Stuart Robertson (Distillery manager) and Frank McHardy selected the casks for the first release of the new Springbank Vintage series. One of 11,000 bottles from re-charred Sherry Butts, and rather good it is too.

Springbank is the oldest independent family owned distillery in Scotland and produces three types of whisky - Springbank; malt dried for 6 hrs over a peat fire then 24hrs over hot air; distilled 2.5 times.

Tasting Notes

Batch 1 is rich and dry with huge amounts of flavour. Sweet oak, peaches and honey are concentrated at the back of the palate. The mouth feel is very lively, with a tinge of salt and citrus. A well balanced finish, as sweet smoky notes mingle with sherry, oak and caramel. The finish is long, rich and warming.
