TheWhiskyBarrel.com Exclusive Bottling

Matured in a single fresh sherry butt cask #3. To commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee (1952-2012) TheWhiskyBarrel.com present our second release of Jubilee Malt, this time Extra Regal.

Islay single malt Scotch distilled at the Bunnhabhain distillery on 17th December 1990 and bottled 29th March 2012.

Just 200 bottles at full strength have been released featuring a rather splendid Crown Jewel.

Nose: Huge sherry! Very sweet dried fruits, grapefruit and pineapple, butterscotch, green apple orchard pollen leading to closing seaside brine.

Palate: Incredibly clean, huge sherry overload explodes on the mouth, great proof in this one. Oily mouth feel, ash, menthol, with long warming spices and butter - excellent balance leading to a soft finish of runny honey and more sherry!

Bunnahabhain

Bunnahabhain Distillery was established in 1881 on the north eastern tip of the Isle of Islay by the shore of Bunnahabhain Bay and overlooking the Sound of Islay. All the building materials were transported by puffer and unloaded at the distillery pier. Now tucked away at the end of the single track ‘main’ road with spectacular scenery all the way. Bunnahabhain Distillery is equipped with four huge pear shaped stills and produces Scottish malt whisky which is released in blends and single malts. Visitors are welcomed at the distillery visitor centre and distillery cottages are available for holiday lets. A participant in Feis Ile, the annual Islay Festival of Malt and Music.
