Big Peat Islay blended malt Scotch whiskey. A shovelful of single malts distilled at Ardbeg, Coal Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen bottled unchillfiltered.
Winner 'Scotch Vatted Malt of the Year' 2011 in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible™ (96 points).
Pure Islay in a glass; unmistakable bellowing raw peat smoke, new-laid tar, salt, mint and medicinal aromas. On the plate is a smooth and warming full bodied malt brimmed with medicinal yummyness. If you have any inkling towards smoky Islay malts don't miss this one. TWB November 2009.
Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
Blended Malt is a mixture of two or more Single Malt Scotch Whiskies which have been distilled at more than one distillery. Because Scotland’s whisky blenders are able to standardise the colour, strength and taste in their blends their customers are assured of consistency in a product which may be marketed over a number of years. Formally known as a Vatted Malt.
